About Me
Janne Meijer is a London-based multi-disciplinary artist and self-taught potter. She comes from a Fine Art background, studying at Central Saint Martins, and in recent years her focus has been on ceramics. Her practice is driven by making and process, spanning from alternative photographic methods and print to ceramics. She is interested in everyday objects, materiality and the care that is imbued into making processes, craft and labour.
As a potter she works predominately on the wheel, using stoneware and porcelain to create functional wares. Inspired by angular contemporary forms, she aims to create quiet, refined and precise works, focusing on form, process and clay as a material. She often uses techniques such as staining and marbling clay, and decorating with slip or glaze on the wheel to create unique one-off pieces that are formed through the wheel’s movement.
I take commissions for ceramic pieces, big or small, and am always eager to collaborate on a project. If you'd like to learn more about my work, place an order, commission a bespoke piece or collaborate on a project, please get in touch. I'd love to hear from you!
